Beyond Academics
Hobby Clubs
Birds of same feather flock together is witnessed during hobby time. The variegated hobbies have spread its wings into various angles that would cover the interest of our students to explore something beyond academics.
The innumerable field that encompasses our students’ interests are instrumental music, photography, 3D arts and model making, jewellery making, painting, embroidery, plant tissue culture, quiz club, public speaking, entrepreneur club, math club, chess etc. The recent addition to the club is reel making, STEM and quilling. The hobbies that are into practice falls under skill ,talent , knowledge and value based.
The school also outsource experts from renowned music academy for music and instrumental hobbies. They are also trained by experts for the band.
This year, the school has included total number of 32 hobbies for both juniors and seniors. The hobby classes are conducted for one hour on Wednesdays every week. This is the most awaited day for the students in CIRS. The more students involve themselves into their passion, inadvertently their confidence rises which is reflected in other area of their choices.
The opportunity provided by our school is to enhance their hidden caliber to sprout out as a blooming flower to face the rising sun. The students use the time to be themselves to think and align their knowledge and creativity.
Ted Ed
TED is an organization that gives a voice to amazing speakers with even more amazing ideas. Every year, our school has successfully organized a TEDx event that exposes students to various speakers with different perspectives from all over the country. But this time, a unique blend of the grandiloquence of a TED event mixed with the ingenuity of our students led to the birth of a new event: The TED Ed Student Talks.
After months of hard work from both the speakers and the CBSE 12 standard batch of 2024, from the endless edits to the tireless practices to the myriad of posts on social media, the event finally culminated on August 9, 2023. 15 eloquent speakers were armed, not with mere ideas, but with awe-inspiring deliveries that imprinted those very ideas in the hearts of those present. From Master Adithyan DV’s comical yet powerful commentary on the role of a teacher in his life to Master Jayam Modi’s unique take on a cockroach’s perspective on humans.
Each of the speakers added their own experiences and flair to their presentation, allowing the ideas to resonate much more deeply with the audience than any external source could manage. Personal anecdotes and tragic mistakes were beautifully interwoven with convincing arguments so as to bring about an impression on all those who heard their talks.
A huge thanks to all the speakers who braved the blinding lights and the dreaded red carpet to step up to the shape and spread ideas that the youth of today needed to hear. A special thanks must be extended to the teachers in-charge of the event, Madam Saranya C. and Br. Sanatan Chaithanya, along with all the core team members from the CBSE batch of 2024 for organizing a successful event. If you missed the event, do not hesitate to head to the CIRS YouTube channel and discover for yourself the power that words can have when said by youths with a vision.

CIRS Mun
The CIRSMUN was the culmination of over 2 months of deliberation, direction and discussion for the secretariat. It started as a tiny swing-side idea following the success of the C20 seminar. The tireless efforts of the 12th graders helped establish and decide the CIRSMUN, making an official announcement on May 11th, 2023. This idea soon became the biggest solely student-led initiative since the onset of normalcy at CIRS. Students submitted their preferences and were selected and sorted into 5 committees, and were debriefed by their chairs soon thereafter.
The arduous research and writing phase commenced as students transitioned from a carefree vacation to dedicated diplomatic study, laying the foundation for CIRSMUN. Delegates meticulously compiled research binders and documents, some exceeding 200 pages, following the structured research approach of MUN events. The average binder spanned 30-40 pages.
The first day ended on a high, as the evening was a splendid showcase of talent and skill through the CIRSMUN Cultural fest. The energy-filled, dynamic evening completely cast away any shred of exhaust in the delegates, as they were reinvigorated to return with better points and strategies the next day.
Day two was typical until the final day, where the most crucial aspect of any MUN took place: drafting resolutions. Delegates formed blocs and crafted official documents with proposed solutions to the agenda. These documents underwent amendments and committee-wide voting. Failing to pass a resolution meant failing to address the agenda. The committee sessions grew intense, with deep and intricate debates. Delegates delved into their designated countries’ national policies, persuading others to support resolutions aligned with their ideas. It was a fascinating display of diplomacy and negotiation. There isn’t much to say about the resolutions written thereafter. The fact that students could provide unique solutions to such intricate agendas and reach a consensus with a majority simply speaks about their remarkable quality. Through the power of dialogue, the committees of the World Bank, DISEC and UNCCPCJ passed their resolutions, agreeing to solve the issue through the ideas and solutions discussed in the committee.
Foreign relations. Diplomacy. Disputes. Debates. Solutions. Resolutions.
From the World Bank to the IAEA, from DISEC to UNSC and UNCCPCJ. CIRSMUN had it all. On the evening of the 11th of July, the event came to a close with a valedictory hosted by the secretary generals. Overall, the CIRSMUN was hugely successful in its goal to foster a global outlook and diplomatic approach to international issues among the youth of CIRS.
Open Forum
Students at CIRS actively engage in discussions across a wide range of topics, whether they are related to the curriculum, extracurricular interests, current affairs, politics, life skills, and more. While informal conversations among students are common, they may sometimes involve incorrect or incomplete knowledge. This is where the Open Forum initiative comes into play, offering CIRS students an opportunity to initiate and participate in discussions that are open to all.
During these sessions, students are presented with relevant videos or specific topics to kick start discussions. In the Open Forum, every student’s perspective is respected, with a faculty moderator present to provide clarity, knowledge, and guidance to ensure that students gain a well-rounded understanding of the topic at hand. The sessions cover a wide range of topics, such as Motivation and Responsibility, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Love and Hate, Digital Footprints, and more.
In conclusion, CIRS provides an environment where students can engage in meaningful discussions on various topics through the Open Forum initiative. This not only enriches their knowledge but also promotes critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
CIRS Counselling Cell
The Marching Forward initiative at CIRS is not just a program; it is a transformative journey designed to enlighten, inspire, and expand horizons for our senior students. Its primary goal is to provide students with the knowledge and wisdom necessary to make informed career choices.
This academic year, our journey commenced with a compelling address by Swami Anukoolanda ji, titled ‘Know Thy Self.’ This session delved deep into the realm of self-awareness, encouraging students to recognize their multitude of skills, whether as intricate as perfecting square brownie recipes or as refined as excelling in public speaking and event organization. Following this introspective start, our Principal,
Smt. Rajeshwari Satish, elucidated the intricacies of our school’s admission process and the diverse criteria governing admissions.
Subsequently, our IB coordinator, Shri Ganesh Eswaran, along with Dy IB Coordinator Shri Satish Kumar and the school counsellor, Smt. Padmashini Patro, provided valuable insights into the various academic streams offered by our school. These sessions weren’t mere lectures; they served as windows into potential futures, offering a glimpse into the nature of each academic path.
These foundational sessions set the stage for a series of events and university fairs. During this period, our dedicated school counsellor embarked on tireless journeys, visiting different states within our country and overseas to gather invaluable data. Her first destination was the UCAS conference in the United Kingdom, where she gained profound insights into major universities. She then attended the G2 conference in Bangalore, engaging with over 150 delegates from universities across India, the UK, USA, and Australia. Finally, she participated in the ICT annual conference in Hyderabad, where interactions with representatives from over 350 universities enriched her already extensive knowledge.
Thanks to our school’s diligent efforts, our students aren’t just informed; they are empowered. Armed with insights into their own skills, knowledge about admission processes, and a comprehensive understanding of diverse academic pathways, our students are inspired to march forward, fully equipped to shape their own destinies.
Voice of the Outgoing Council
To set a council vision for ourselves meant internalizing and truly understanding what it means to us as council members. The vision we had set for ourselves at the beginning of the year was not to look at this leadership as a position but instead as an endless action to give back. We realized that the post stood not for power but for service. It does not keep us above the rest but drives us to help everyone bring out their best. It stands not as a symbol of position but as a symbol of our dedication and commitment to our institution. An institution that stands tall, not by its pillars but by the unwavering vision set by our Gurudev. Rooted in the Chinmaya Vision Program (CVP), we realized the power of a transformative framework that empowers individuals to lead a life on the path of self-discovery, character development and social responsibility.
Before our term began, we were asked a simple question: Why is it so important to spread our vision to everyone?
Now, looking back at our journey, we can proudly say we finally have our answer. A vision that remains confined within the minds of a few is a vision that has truly never achieved its fullest. Our vision holds the power to inspire, to ignite hope, and to unite our community towards a common goal. However, spreading our vision is not just about communication; it is about building relationships. It is about connecting with everyone on a deeper level, understanding their aspirations, and empowering them to become active participants in the realization of our shared vision. By fostering a sense of belongingness and inclusivity, we strive to create a student culture that thrives on the collective efforts and dedication of its people.
To every person persevering on the sports field: They needed to find the drive to beat not others but previous versions of themselves and emerge victorious.
To every person who steps foot on that alluring stage: They had to conquer their fears and find their own space to shine bright.
To every person chosen to be part of a house: to inculcate a sense of belonging and contribute toward sustaining and building a stronger legacy.
And finally, to every CIRS student: To identify themselves with the ideals that set our school apart and be that youth to build the nation that our Gurudev envisioned.
Our journey was not easy. The responsibility felt was overwhelming, and we questioned whether we were capable of making a difference. There were times when we had to navigate through disagreements and conflicting opinions. Yes, it wasn’t always easy to find common ground, but we learned the importance of listening to each other and respecting different perspectives. When overcoming these challenges, we learned so much about each other and ourselves. We discovered the power of resilience, empathy, and determination. We realized that we are capable of making a difference, no matter how big or small. We might have made mistakes and stumbled along the way, but we got back up, dusted ourselves off, and kept going.
At the end of the year, as we pass on the sash to our successors with a sense of poignant fulfillment, we realize that the things we’ve learnt cannot really be condensed into words. It wasn’t just about the laughter, the joy and the occasional tears. It wasn’t just about the grand spectacles and events. It was about all the small moments and all the things that made this year so special.
We are grateful to Gurudev and to our school for allowing us to be a small part of an unfathomably inspiring vision that we will forever carry forth in our hearts.
We repeat the council pledge that we took at the time of our induction – We promise to lead in the right way, maintain discipline, and always uphold the name and honor of this our school, always.
Nature Art
The Art Department at CIRS has introduced an inspiring initiative known as “Nature Art,” aimed at nurturing students’ observational skills, unleashing their creativity, and fostering a deeper appreciation for the world around them. Every Sunday morning, at the break of dawn, students eagerly gather at 6:30 AM, armed with their art materials, ready to embark on a two-hour journey of sketching the captivating natural landscapes that envelop them.
This initiative has proven to be a resounding success, igniting students’ passion for exploration beyond the classroom walls. As they delve into the intricacies of drawing from life, they absorb valuable lessons on capturing the interplay of light and shadow within scenes and employing perspective to imbue depth into their creations.
Beyond honing their artistic prowess, the Sunday Sketching endeavour has also cast a positive influence on students’ overall well-being. Time spent immersed in nature has been scientifically linked to reduced stress levels, elevated moods, and heightened creativity. Furthermore, students have expressed a profound sense of connection – both with their local community and the natural world – nurtured by this initiative.
This novel initiative serves as an exemplary demonstration of how art can serve as a powerful channel for enhancing student learning and well-being. It has not only deepened their relationship with the environment but also instilled a sense of community and gratitude. Heartfelt appreciation goes to our art teacher Sri. Chitrashekhar for pioneering this transformative initiative.
